Sanyo Aircon Error Codes Singapore (Complete Guide 2026)

https://silverbackaircon.sg/sanyo-aircon-operation-light-blinking/

Your Sanyo aircon is showing a code like E04, P10 or H02, and you have probably already discovered the awkward part: Sanyo no longer makes aircons, so official help is thin on the ground. The brand was absorbed by Panasonic over a decade ago, but plenty of Sanyo units in Singapore are still running, and we still service them. This guide explains the codes, what is fixable, and when an old Sanyo deserves repair versus retirement.

At Lion City Aircon we have completed over 22,000 jobs since 2016, and aging Sanyo units in older HDB flats, condos and shophouses are still a regular sight for our teams.

How Sanyo Error Codes Work

Sanyo splits and cassettes use a four-family code system, shown on the wired controller or via indoor lamp flashes. The letter tells you the category:

  • E codes: communication faults between remote, indoor and outdoor units
  • P codes: protection trips (pressure, drainage, fan, compressor protection)
  • H codes: compressor electrical faults
  • F codes: sensor (thermistor) faults

Because Sanyo shares its engineering lineage with Panasonic’s commercial range, the code architecture will look familiar to anyone who has read our Panasonic error codes guide.

Sanyo E Codes (Communication)

  • E01: Remote controller to indoor unit communication error. Often the controller wiring or address settings rather than a dead board.
  • E02: Signal transmission error from the remote controller.
  • E04: Indoor to outdoor unit communication failure. The Sanyo equivalent of the classic “units not talking” fault. Check the outdoor isolator first, then wiring and terminals, which corrode over the years in Singapore’s humidity.

Sanyo P Codes (Protection Trips)

  • P03: Discharge temperature trouble. The compressor is running too hot, often low gas or a restriction.
  • P04: High pressure protection. Usually a filthy condenser that cannot shed heat. A proper clean fixes most cases.
  • P05: Power supply fault. Voltage or phase problem at the unit.
  • P10: Float switch operated. The drain pan filled and the safety tripped. In Singapore this is the most common Sanyo code we attend, and the cause is nearly always a drain line clogged with biofilm. Drain vacuum from $90. See the water leak guide and our aircon jelly explainer.
  • P15: Pump down or gas shortage detection. Refrigerant-side issue. Find the leak rather than topping up blind.
  • P19: 4-way valve fault. The reversing valve. Technician territory.
  • P22: Outdoor fan fault. Motor or drive. Fan motor replacement runs $200 to $350.
  • P26: Inverter IPM protection. The power module tripped. Boards for old Sanyo units are the hard part, more below.
  • P29: Compressor drive fault detection. Serious. Switch the unit off.

Sanyo H Codes (Compressor) and F Codes (Sensors)

  • H01: Compressor overcurrent. The compressor is drawing too much current.
  • H02: Compressor lock. The compressor cannot turn. On an old unit this is usually the retirement signal.
  • H03: Current sensor fault. The detection circuit itself.
  • F codes (F01 onward): thermistor faults: indoor coil, room air, discharge pipe, outdoor coil sensors. The exact number varies by series. Sensor replacement from $130 where parts are available.

Code meanings vary across Sanyo’s residential, cassette and commercial series. Photograph the code and the nameplate sticker, WhatsApp both to +65 8818 5781, and we will confirm against the right table.

The Honest Sanyo Question: Repair or Retire?

Every Sanyo unit in Singapore is at least a decade old, most are older. Here is how we genuinely advise owners:

  • Worth fixing: drain clogs (P10), dirty-condenser pressure trips (P04), corroded communication wiring (E04), and sensors where parts exist. These are cheap fixes that buy real time.
  • Think hard: fan motors and boards. Generic-compatible parts sometimes work; original boards are increasingly unobtainable.
  • Usually retirement: compressor faults (H01, H02, P29) and inverter module failures (P26). A new System 1 install starts at $1,050 with warranty and modern efficiency, and an old Sanyo also runs on phased-out refrigerant, which makes any future gas work harder and pricier. The full framework is in our repair vs replacement guide.

Sanyo Repair Costs in Singapore

Lion City Aircon pricing, same across HDB, condo and landed, excluding GST:

  • Troubleshooting visit: $80, waived if you proceed with the repair
  • Drain vacuum (P10): from $90
  • Sensor replacement (F codes): from $130, subject to parts availability
  • Fan motor (P22): $200 to $350
  • Gas leak repair plus recharge: from $180
  • Compressor or inverter work: quoted against a replacement, honestly

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Sanyo still making air conditioners?

No. Panasonic absorbed Sanyo’s appliance business over a decade ago. Units still running in Singapore are legacy installs, which is why parts are the deciding factor in most repair decisions.

What does P10 mean on my Sanyo aircon?

Float switch operated: the drain pan filled because the drain line is clogged. It is the most common Sanyo fault in Singapore and one of the cheapest to fix properly with a drain vacuum.

Can you still get Sanyo spare parts in Singapore?

Consumables, sensors and some motors, often yes, sometimes via Panasonic-compatible equivalents. Original PCBs and compressors are increasingly unobtainable, which pushes major faults toward replacement.

My Sanyo works fine. Should I replace it anyway?

No. A working unit with normal bills owes you nothing. Keep it serviced and budget for replacement so the eventual failure is a plan rather than an emergency.

What should I replace an old Sanyo with?

Any of the major current brands. Our 2026 buying guide covers the decision, and a System 1 install starts at $1,050.
