Your Fujitsu aircon is blinking its lights or showing a code like 02, 17 or EE:EE, and you need to know what it means. Fujitsu does error codes differently from most brands in Singapore: on wall-mounted units without a wired controller, the unit speaks in flash patterns on the Operation and Timer lamps, and you have to count the blinks. This guide covers how to read both systems, what the codes mean, and which ones need a technician.
At Lion City Aircon we have serviced over 22,000 units across Singapore since 2016, including Fujitsu and Fujitsu General splits in HDB flats, condos and offices. This page is based on Fujitsu’s diagnostic documentation cross-checked against what we see on real jobs.
How to Read Your Fujitsu Error Code
Wall-mounted units: count the lamp flashes
Most residential Fujitsu splits show faults as repeating flash patterns on the indoor unit lamps. Count how many times the Operation lamp flashes, then how many times the Timer lamp flashes, and the pair identifies the fault. For example, Operation 2 + Timer 2 is the room temperature sensor, and Operation 5 + Timer 2 is IPM protection.
Wired remote controller: the EE:EE display
On units with a wired controller, a fault shows as EE:EE on the display. To pull the actual error code, switch the unit off and hold the temperature up and down buttons together for about 3 seconds. The controller then shows a two-character code like 02, 17 or 2F.
If you cannot read the pattern
Take a 20 to 30 second video of the blinking lamps on your phone and WhatsApp it to +65 8818 5781 with your model number. Counting flash patterns is genuinely fiddly, and we can usually identify the fault from the video before sending a team.
Common Fujitsu Error Codes (Sensors and Communication)
- 00: Wired remote controller abnormal. The controller itself or its wiring. Cheap fix relative to the panic it causes.
- 01: Indoor signal error. Communication trouble at the indoor unit. Check the indoor-outdoor cabling before assuming a board fault.
- 02: Room temperature sensor error (Operation 2 + Timer 2 flashes). The thermistor has an open or short circuit. Sensor replacement from $130. The unit cannot read the room, so cooling behaviour goes erratic.
- 04: Indoor heat exchanger sensor error (Operation 2 + Timer 3). Same class of fault, different sensor.
- 09: Float switch operated (Operation 2 + Timer 6). The drain pan is full and the safety switch tripped. In Singapore this is one of the most common Fujitsu faults, and the cause is almost always a clogged drain line. A drain vacuum from $90 usually clears it. See our aircon water leak guide.
- 0A: Outdoor temperature sensor error (Operation 3 + Timer 4). Outdoor thermistor replacement, from $130.
- 0C: Discharge pipe temperature sensor error (Operation 3 + Timer 2). This sensor protects the compressor, so do not ignore it.
- 0F: Discharge temperature error. The discharge pipe actually overheated, often pointing to low refrigerant or a restriction. Needs proper diagnosis, not a reset.
Serious Fujitsu Codes (Compressor, Fan and Inverter)
- 12: Indoor fan abnormal (Operation 6 + Timer 2 or 3). The indoor blower is not turning properly. Fan motor replacement runs $200 to $350.
- 16: Pressure switch or sensor abnormal (Operation 7 + Timer 5). Refrigerant-side problem. Switch the unit off.
- 17: IPM protection (Operation 5 + Timer 2). The inverter power module has tripped to protect itself. Common causes are a dirty, heat-soaked outdoor unit or a failing module. Do not keep restarting it: inverter PCB replacement is $300 to $600 and repeated trips push it closer.
- 1B: Outdoor fan error (Operation 5 + Timer 6). The condenser fan is not spinning correctly. Check for visible obstructions, then leave it to a technician.
- 1C: Outdoor unit communication error (Operation 5 + Timer 8). Often wiring or a board at either end. First check that the outdoor isolator is on.
- 24: Excessive high pressure on cooling (Operation 7 + Timer 3). In Singapore this usually means a filthy outdoor condenser that cannot shed heat. Cleaning it is the cheap fix; ignoring it cooks the compressor.
- 2C: 4-way valve abnormal (Operation 7 + Timer 4). The reversing valve. Needs a technician.
- 2E: Inverter error (Operation 5 + Filter 2). Inverter drive fault, typically PCB-level work.
- 2F: Low pressure error (Operation 7 + Timer 7). Usually low refrigerant from a leak. Do not just top up: find the leak. See when your aircon needs a gas top-up.
Codes and flash patterns vary slightly between Fujitsu series and ages. If your pattern does not match this list, send us the model number from the indoor unit’s nameplate sticker and we will check it against the right code table.
What to Do When You See a Fujitsu Error
- Record the pattern or code. Video the lamps or photograph the wired controller.
- Try one reset. Off at the wall switch, wait 5 minutes, back on. If the code returns, the fault is real.
- Safe self-checks: clean the filters, confirm the outdoor isolator is on, look for obvious blockage around the outdoor unit.
- For sensor and drain codes (02, 04, 09, 0A): book a repair within a few days. Cheap fixes.
- For compressor, pressure and inverter codes (0F, 16, 17, 24, 2E, 2F): switch the unit off and call. Running through these codes causes expensive cascading damage.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Fujitsu lamps are blinking but the unit still cools. Do I need to act?
Yes, at your convenience rather than as an emergency. Some faults let the unit limp along, but sensor and pressure problems get worse and cost more the longer they run.
What does EE:EE mean on my Fujitsu controller?
It is the generic “fault present” display. Hold temperature up and down together for 3 seconds with the unit off and the controller reveals the actual two-character code.
Why does my Fujitsu show code 09 again and again?
Code 09 is the float switch, and it trips when condensate cannot drain. If it keeps returning after the pan is emptied, the drain line is clogged with biofilm and needs a proper vacuum, not another reset. Our aircon jelly guide explains what is growing in there.
Can I reset a Fujitsu error code permanently?
A reset clears the display, not the fault. If the code comes back, the underlying problem is still there and a technician should look at it.
Is Fujitsu worth repairing in Singapore?
Generally yes. Fujitsu General parts are reasonably available here, and sensors, fans and boards are all economical repairs on units under 10 years old. For older units needing compressor or inverter work, see our repair vs replacement guide.
