P0: IPM malfunction. The inverter power module has tripped. Often triggered by a dirty, overheating outdoor unit; sometimes the module itself. Inverter board replacement runs $300 to $600.
P1: Voltage protection. Supply voltage too high or low. If it recurs, have the supply and board checked.
P2: Compressor top temperature protection. The compressor overheated. Switch the unit off. Compressor replacement starts from $600 to $750, which is exactly why you do not run through this code.
P4: Compressor drive error. Inverter drive fault, technician territory.

Some older York series use different assignments (including high and low pressure protections on E1 and E3), so treat any code on a 15-year-old unit as needing series confirmation rather than a guess.
